Frequently Asked Questions

Who should sign up for certified medical examiner training?
Any MD/DO/PA/NP or Chiropractor in any state, or a medical professional licensed, certified, or registered to perform physical examinations in accordance with applicable State laws and regulations

Why get certified?

  • Don’t lose patients that currently have a commercial driver’s license.
  • Earn extra money for the practice. Most practitioners are charging drivers or companies upfront. There is no set price or regulation on CDL exam fees. However, the average exam costs approximately $100.00 to $200.00 across the country.
  • Earn 8 hours of Category 1 continuing medical education credits
  • Expand your credentials and update your CV with a national certification.

Where do I test?
There are local testing centers throughout the country with flexible hours to accommodate clinician’s schedule.

How often do clinicians have to be trained and tested?
FMCSA requires clinicians to train every 5 years and test every 10 years.

What does the National Certification test consist of, what is required for passing and what if I don’t pass?
The National Certification Test is 120 questions taken over 2 hours. A score of 71% is required to pass. The examiner will receive instant notification of pass or fail. If failed, the examination may be re-taken within 30 days.

Why this online training program compares to competitors?
Other than the high pass rate, the course is entirely self-paced, regularly updated with new FMCSA guidelines & 100% online. A clinician does not have to attend a conference, sign up for a webinar or listen to live videos that may be inconvenient to a schedule. It takes approximately 8 hours to complete and practice questions are listed at the end to help prepare for the exam.

Why is it important that the course doesn’t expire if I pass the exam?
The course does not expire even after you complete your exam which is important because you as a clinician want to stay updated with the newest changes to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations. If you need to reference something regarding a patient years later, you have the information right at your fingertips.

Can I access the course on my smart phone?
Absolutely, anywhere there is internet, you can access the course. Plus, there are no videos that require flash or audio so you can view them in your office quickly on your phone if necessary.

How fast will I get certification?
Immediately after completing the last post-test question, a printable certification is available to bring to a local testing facility. There is an auto-save feature that enables the clinician to stop and start the course on any device.

Are there group discounts available?
Yes, Group discounts are available for practices with 3 or more providers.
